VOTING IS SERVING-PART 2

As we vote, so do we serve. As we vote, we serve and promote values and strategies. Last week in VOTING IS SERVING, we read of Donald Trump’s program for gun violence prevention (GVP). This week we will look at Hillary Clinton’s strategy. As last week, both candidates’ strategies come off their campaign web sites.

Hillary believes: “If you are too dangerous to get on a plane, you are too dangerous to buy a gun in America.” Also, “You shouldn’t be able to exploit loopholes and evade criminal background checks by buying online or at a gun show.” Furthermore:

1) Expand background checks to close internet and gun show loophole so that all gun buyers MUST go through a BG check and sellers MUST abide the rule. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2) Take on the gun lobby. Revoke licenses from dealers who break the law. Remove gun industry’s sweeping legal protections for illegal and irresponsible actions. Eliminate immunity protections.

3) Keep guns out of hands of domestic abusers, other violent criminals and severely mentally ill.

4) Keep military style weapons off the streets.
